I’ve set up a Bitz Animation Etsy Shop (as an alternative to a squarespace shop) Check it out www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BitzAnimation
The items for sale are replicas of or related to my animation projects.
All purchases and donations directly support Bitz Animation projects and challenges.
Below are some of the products/merch/replicas I’ve designed. Not all are still on sale- check the Etsy shop for availability.
Zoetropes
I designed this product based on the early animation device. I wanted something I could make and sell in my spare time. I have made lots of variations, with sequences inspired by the history of movies; Muybridge, Singing in the Rain, Disney, Night of the Living Dead and more. Designing the sequences is a nice challenge in between big animation projects.
Origami Sighthound (whippet, greyhound, lurcher…)
I designed an original origami model, inspired by my whippets (R.I.P). This later became a puppet design for a short film ‘Dog Crease Pattern’ but the models, along with folding instructions are available to buy.
Running Wolf Automaton
Turn the handle to make the wolf run over the moon past shooting stars. I made and sold 5 of these - but they’re Sold out now.
Custom 'Running Sighthound' Automaton
Turn the handle to make the dog run over sunny fields or rainbow bridge. I made these as a product that could be customised with the customers dog, hand coloured based on supplied photos. The customised ones are sold out now, but there are a couple based on famous dogs available on my Etsy shop.
Special Edition Whibbit models
Ever since the first Whibbits animation I have made and sold these replicas - they are only put on sale at specific times to help fund my projects. The whibbit models are made in the same way that I made the puppets in my animation. 76 have already been made and sent all over the world. The designs are often limited edition - Check my Etsy or any crowdfunding campaign to see what’s available.
Tuppeny Bat
This little product was designed using the same mechanism as the Hoppahund. I wanted to do a simple flapping creature and I thought the use of a coin as the weight would be interesting quirk. I made and sold 8 of these, but they’re out of stock now.
HOPPAHUND
I wanted to re-design my carousel horse into a paper/foamboard automaton that was easy to build in a kit. I kept with the Ikea style used in previuos products and left the dog white with black lines (this could be coloured at home). Hoppahund means ‘leaping dog’ in Swedish.
Zoetrope
(These are a refinement of the Daedaleum design) I designed this product based on the early animation device. I wanted something I could make and sell in my spare time. I have made lots of variations, with sequences inspired by the history of movies; Muybridge, Singing in the Rain, Disney, Night of the Living Dead and more. Designing the sequences is a nice challenge in between big animation projects. I try to keep these on sale and they regularly sell on my Etsy shop.
Running Dog Daedaleum
A simple early animation device, a bit like a zoetrope but with only one fixed animation sequence. I designed it as a ‘Fun’ build-it-yourself kit in Ikea style packaging. I made and sold 20 of these but then took them off sale and refined the design into the Zoetrope product.
Whibbit Run! Automaton
This challenge was different to animation - and automaton that moved in real life. I simplified the whibbit design and mounted it on a wooded mechanism. I made and sold 4 of these but they are no longer on sale.
Move it... Whippet! / Greyhound! / Lurcher!
I used the Dog action figure design to make this plain Posable model. It was designed for animation, play and display. The Retro packaging hand a stand and a green backing to use as a greenscreen for animation.
Carousel Automaton
I wanted to make a simple automaton. As automatons have a vintage feel I used carousels as inspiration. Rather than a horse I made this as a sighthound. I made and sold 5 of these, but they’re out of stock now.
‘Whibbits!’ Storybook
As a change to my animations I tried to make a whibbit book, with a new whibbit design. I prted 100 of these and have sold 70. This book is available to buy as a physical copy. But you can also download a digital PDF here
‘Bitz’ and ‘Whibbits!’ Merch
I have run a fair few fundraising campaigns for my animations. Starting with the ‘Bitz the Whippet’ film I designed badges, T-shirts, bags, stickers, posters, mugs… and more! When I began the ‘whibbits!’ films I also started making replica puppets alongside all this other merch. It’s through the sale of this stuff that I am able to make my films. It’s all put on sale alongside whatever film I’m making, so check out any fundraising campaign to see what’s available and how you can support my work.
